Meet Our Staff
Founding Attorney Mr. Robert S Piazza
Robert s. Piazza founded “The Disability Law Center of Robert S. Piazza” in 1990 after leaving Social Security in Woodlawn. He left Social Security after seeing the need to provide legal assistance to persons who were trying to obtain their disability benefits. While employed at Social Security he served as a National Director and assisted in writing the regulations used today for the Cardiovascular System and the Musculosketal system. His other reasonability’s included training the Administrative Law Judges nationwide.
He continued to practice law until he was diagnosed with leukemia in January 1993. Then in March of 1994, his son Vincent J. Piazza took over the practice and continued his father work. And in 1997, Robert passed away.
Managing Attorney Mr. Vincent J. Piazza
Vincent J. Piazza joined his father in the law firm in 1994. Vincent is a 1979 graduated from Calvert Hall High School. He obtained his Undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland in 1984 and received his law degree from University of Baltimore in 1990. He went on to receive his Master of Law from Georgetown in 1991 and graduated with honors. Vincent served as an associated editor of the Law Review, and he was admitted to the Maryland Bar and DC Bar Association in 1990.

Associate Attorney Genevieve Vallar
Genevieve Vallar has been a member of The Disability Law Center, since 2007. She focuses her practice on helping individuals who have been denied Social Security disability benefits. Genevieve received her J.D. and L.L.M. from University of Baltimore, School of Law and her B.S. in Political Science at the University of Maryland. She is a member of the Family Law Section of the Maryland State Bar Association, and has interned for the Honorable R.K. Hargadon in Baltimore City Circuit Court and at the House of Ruth in Maryland.
Associate Attorney Emily L. Zychowicz
Emily Zychowicz came to The Disability Law Center in August 2009. She received her J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2009, graduating magna cum laude. Emily was awarded the University of Baltimore Exceptional Commitment to Community Service Award in 2008. Prior to her legal career, Emily worked with children and adults with developmental disabilities and autism. She graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in Psychology from Washington College in 2004.
Physician’s Assistant Kathryn Piazza-Appel
Kaithryn Piazza-Appel received her undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland in 1977 and has been a Certified Physician Assistant for the past 30 years. Prior to her work at The Disability Law Center she practiced and taught geriatric medicine to Physician Assistants at (?). She joined her father Robert Piazza, and her brother Vincent Piazza at The Disability Law Center in 1996.
